I think you have touched all the main points of getting backlinks.I think commenting on other sites is a very good way to get a backlinks.But dear always remember all your backlinks will not be counted as good for PR or any other rank by google.I have my own experinece on that.I can see by searching on google account that I have too many backlinks ,yet my PR fluctuates.It is now 0.Anyway thanks

I comment on other blogs always just for the links. Every new site I build, whether it is a blog or an affiliate site I always do 10-20 comments. It is great for indexing.

I also do deep links sometimes by linking to specific posts and pages.
